III Международный конкурс пианистов имени Софии Губайдулиной

Information:

 

General provisions

III International Sofia Gubaidulina Piano Competition (hereinafter – Competition) will take place in Kazan, Russia, from October 26 to November 1, 2016.

The Competition welcomes applications from pianists of 30 years and younger on the opening day of the Competition.

The Competition auditions will consist of three Rounds, the order of performances is determined by the draw, which will be maintained for the rest of the Competition.

 

No more than 6 contestants will be accepted to the Third Round.

In Third Round, the competitors will perform the program with the orchestra’s accompaniment.

The Competitions Organizing Committee will provide practice rooms during the day (not more than 2 hours a day). Before every round each contestant has the opportunity to hold a stage rehearsal in the concert hall no less than 20 minutes.

 

Application Information

Applications should be sent no later than September 26, 2016 to the e-mail address: interconsert@gmail.com, message subject: «Gubaidulina Competition».

The application form should be accompanied by the following documents (please send by e-mail in the attachment not larger than 5MB):

  • Scanned copies of: passport (or Birth Certificate in case the participant doesn’t hold a passport), social security card, residence permit or/and registration indicating the address.
  • Bank account details for award payment (full details of the bank account in any bank (a legible copy) or bank card details with your full Bank details including BIC, bank’s account number and the personal customer account (this information can be obtained free of charge upon request at a bank where the Bank card is registered)
  • Participant’s photo in JPEG format
  • Short biography signed by the pedagogue, with a stamp of the educational institution.

 

The contestants shall receive the official invitation of participation no later than October 5, 2016. Each Competition contestant pays an application fee of 2000 RUB upon arrival to the Competition. In the event of candidate’s refusal to participate in the Competition, the documents will not be returned and application fee will not be refunded.

 

Travel Expenses

All expenses, including travel and accommodation throughout the stay in Kazan, Russia, are taken care of by the contestants.

Hotel booking is done individually (please refer to the list of hotels on the Conservatoire’s website).

The Organizing Committee provides visa support and issues invitation letters to the international contestants of the Competition. Upon the receipt of the official letter of participation confirmation, all international students should start the visa application process at respective Russian Consulates or visa centers. All visa fees, the amount of which is determined by each respective Consulate, are covered by the participants.

 

Prizes and Awards

The Organizing Committee announces the following awards:

  • The First Prize and the title of The First Prize Winner
  • The Second Prize and the title of The Second Prize Winner
  • The Third Prize and the title of The Third Prize Winner
  • 3 Distinction Awards

The Prize winners are awarded with cash prizes which are subject to all relevant taxes under the legislation of the Russian Federation.

 

Repertoire

First Round

Program duration from 20 to 25 minutes.

1.One of the following fantasies: W. A. Mozart (c-moll K. 396, d-moll K. 397, c-moll, K. 475) or L. van Beethoven (g-moll, op. 77).

  1. One virtuoso etude (F. Chopin, F. Liszt, S. Rachmaninov, A. Scriabin)
  2. One virtuoso etude of a XX century composer at the contestant's choice (S. Prokofiev, B. Bartok, G. Ligeti).
  3. S. Gubaidulina Invention (1974).

 

Second Round

Program duration from 35 to 45 minutes.

  1. One large-scale romantic composition of the contestant's choice.
  2. One piece of the contestant's choice from the following list: S. Gubaidulina Chaconne or Sonata (1965), A. Schnittke Sonata №1 (1987), Sonata № 3 (1992), E. Denisov Variations on a theme by Handel (1986).

 

Third Round

  1. One of the concerts for piano and orchestra by W.A. Mozart (№20, d minor K. 466; or №21, C major K. 467).
