III International Sofia Gubaidulina Piano Competition :

 

General provisions

 

  1. III International Sofia Gubaidulina Piano Competition (hereinafter - Competition) is held in the framework of the International Sofia Gubaidulina Festival.
  2. Competition Founders:

  1. Aims and Objectives of the Competition:

1) Preservation and development of the performing arts excellence

2) Identification and support of the most talented and promising musicians

3) Maintaining public interest to the works of contemporary composers

4) Development of national and international relations in the sphere of musical performance

  1. The preparation and organization of the Competition is carried out by the Organizing Committee of the Competition (hereinafter - Organizing Committee)
  2. The jurisdiction of the Organizing Committee includes all creative, organizational and financial issues, including the formation and approval of prize fund regulations; the formation and approval of the composition of the jury consisting of eminent Russian and foreign musicians and pedagogues; approval of the Jury Provision.
  3. The composition of the Organizational Committee shall be approved by order of the rector of the Kazan Conservatoire.

 

Dates of the Competition

 

The Competition will be held in Kazan, Russia, from October 26 to November 1, 2016.

 

Rules and Procedures

  1. The Competition is open to pianists – music students of specialized music colleges and higher musical training institutions - not older than 30 years on the opening day of the Competition.
  2. The order of participation in the Competition is determined by a draw, which is maintained until the end of the Competition.
  3. The Competition auditions are open to public and consist of three Rounds.
  4. The Jury has the right to decide on the shortening of the program or termination of the performance of the program that exceeds the allotted time, as well as in the case of an obvious result of performance under the agreed decision of all the members of the jury.
  5. In Third Round, the contestants perform a piece accompanied by the orchestra.
  6. No more than 6 contestants are admitted to perform in Third Round.
  7. The final distribution of prizes and awards of Third Round will be held at the closing session of the jury.
  8. The decision of the jury is final and not subject to revision.
  9. The Competition Organizing Committee will provide contestants with practice rooms during the day (no more than two hours per day).
  10. Prior to each competition round each contestant is provided with the opportunity to hold a stage rehearsal no less than 20 minutes.
  11. The Prize and Distinction Award winners of the Competition are obliged to take part in the final concert for free.
  12. The Organizing Committee reserves all rights to broadcast the auditions and concerts of the Prize and Distinction Award winners on the radio and television, film and make video and audio- recordings without payment of fee to the contestants of the Competition.

 

Application Procedure

  1. Applications for participation must be sent no later than September 26, 2016 by e-mail interconsert@gmail.com with "Gubaidulina Competition" in the Subject line.
  2. Submission of the application confirms the consent of the contestant to the terms of the Competition.
  3. The application form can be downloaded from the official website www.kazanconservatoire.ru Kazan State Conservatoire in the “Competitions, festivals” (Конкурсы, фестивали) section.
  4. The application must be accompanied by the following documents (sent by e-mail as an attached file of no more than 5 MB):

- Scanned copies of: passport (or Birth Certificate in case the participant doesn’t hold a passport), social security card, residence permit or/and registration indicating the address.

- Bank account details for award payment (full details of the bank account in any bank (a legible copy) or bank card details with your full Bank details including BIC, bank’s account number and the personal customer account (this information can be obtained free of charge upon request at a bank where the Bank card is registered)

- Participant’s photo in JPEG format

- Short biography signed by the pedagogue supervisor, authorized by the stamp of the educational institution.

 

  1. The participants will receive the official invitation to the Competition no later than October 5, 2016
  2. Each Competition participant pays an application fee of 2000 RUB upon arrival to the Competition.
  3. In the event of candidate’s refusal to participate in the Competition, the documents will not be returned and application fee will not be refunded.

 

Travel Expenses

  1. All the costs associated with travel, accommodation and stay in the city of Kazan, are borne by the participants of the Competition.
  2. Hotel booking is made by the Competition participants individually (a list of hotels is available on the Kazan Conservatoire’s website).
  3. The Organizing Committee does not provide the contestants of the Competition, as well as accompanying persons, with any kind of insurance.
  4. The Organizing Committee will provide visa support and issuing of invitations to foreign participants. After receiving the official notification and invitation from the Organizing Committee, the foreign participants should turn to the Russian consulate to obtain a visa. All visa expenses, according to the requirements of Russian consulates, are borne by the participants.

 

Prizes and Awards

  1. The Organizing Committee announces the following prizes:
  • First prize 120 000 RUR and the title of First prize Winner
  • Second prize 80 000 RUR and the title of Second prize Winner
  • Third prize 50 000 RUR and the title of Third prize Winner
  • Distinction Awards 20 000 RUR

 

  1. Prize Winners of the Competition will be awarded cash prizes.
  2. Cash prizes are subject to all the taxes provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation.
  3. The jury has the right not to award all the prizes, to introduce additional second or third prize respectively in the absence of the first or second prizes.
  4. The jury has the right to mention the most prominent performers that have not passed the second round by awarding certificates.
  5. The state, public and commercial organizations, the media, institutions, creative unions and individuals can establish special prizes for contestants, which are awarded by the decision of the jury of the Competition.
